Power Pastels
Though I love to create bright and vibrant works, sometimes I remind myself to think in lighter washes of colours (and sometimes I even succeed!). On this one I used powdered watercolours in shades of red violet, blue violet, green and yellow, with gold metallic added after laying down the botanicals into the paint.
This pastel beauty with sparks of intensity, features wild botanicals like leaves, grasses, and ferns. I never know how a painting will look until it’s fully dried, but the softness of this one with the clear outlines around the botanicals from colours pooling (and perhaps a bit of chemical magic), lets the botanicals take centre stage.
Size: 10 x 14 inches or 25.4 x 35.6 cm
Substrate: Mineral Paper 15pt (75% Calcium Carbonate / 25% Resin)
